Throughout my college experience, Isla Vista has become a second home and has given me the opportunity to work with students and long term residents to create tangible changes in our community. The past year has not been what we expected and it has placed a severe burden on students’ academic and emotional well being. With my three years of experience in the EVPLA office and my passion for creating equitable change, I am ready to start the transition to an open campus and IV.

MY GOALS:
REOPEN CAMPUS: Collaborate with Public Health officials to transition safely back into in person learning and events to develop a sense of community for all students.
OPEN MARKETS: Bring back bi-quarterly open markets to promote student businesses and artists.
REDUCE CITATIONS: Expand the Restorative Justice Program to include the removal of MIPs and Public Intoxication citations from IV residents records.
LOCAL INTERNSHIP/JOB FAIR: Work with Career Services to create quarterly networking opportunities for students to meet employers in Santa Barbara County.
TENANTS RIGHTS: Document annual rents and calculate rent hikes in Isla Vista to ensure future tenants are not overcharged.
CONTINUING PROJECTS:
FOOD BANK IN IV: Continue collaborating with the A.S. Food Bank to expand weekly services into IV.
MOLD ALLEVIATION: Curate a report based on the 400+ responses from students living with mold and present it to the SB County Board of Supervisors to address and eliminate this health issue from IV homes.
