Bike Shop

Bike Shop is a student-funded non-profit organization dedicated to education, service, and safety. They have everything needed to get your bike running safely and smoothly. You bring your ID card, your bike, your time, and an inclination to learn. They’ll provide the tools and the advice. Anything else you need, they’ll offer at the lowest possible prices.

Department of Public Worms

The Department of Public Worms focuses on reducing campus food waste and closing the loop by composting and using compost as an organic gardening aid. The Department of Public Worms works closely with A.S. Recycling, which reduces waste through recycling, e-waste collection, and educational outreach.

Food Bank

The Associated Students Food Bank is a student-run service that is available to all UCSB students, both graduate and undergraduate. We aim to eradicate hunger from our campus community by providing basic food supplies, toiletries, and information about additional resources to students in need.

IVTU

The Isla Vista Tenants Union will empower tenants through education, advocacy, and grassroots organizing. We will promote tenant interests and act against violations of tenants’ rights. IVTU will work with local groups, the County, the University, and businesses to realize its mission.

Legal Resources Center

The mission at ASLRC is to assist students in responding to legal problems that may be interfering with academic studies or otherwise adversely affecting their well-being. All consultations are strictly confidential. ASLRC Attorney will be able to talk with students on legal matters, including landlord tenant disputes, contracts, personal injury matters, consumer complaints, credit and debt problems, family law, motor vehicle tickets, employment problems, criminal citations, wills and probate, and traffic accidents. ASLRC also has over 50 self-help law books written for the layperson.

Media Center

The  Media Center is open to all undergraduate students with or without media production experience. The Media Center is a member organization loosely modeled on co-op principles. What that means specifically for the Media Center is that the organization welcomes all undergraduate students who are willing to accept the responsibilities of membership in exchange for the respectful use of the Media Center’s gear and its facilities. We provide training and workshops in journalism, video and audio production and editing on iMovie or Final Cut Studio. Media Center members in good standing may also check out field production equipment and use the in-house edit stations.

Pardall Center

The Pardall Center is meant to serve the UCSB population and community members of Isla Vista. It hosts individual study spaces, group work areas, computer and basic printing facilities along with meeting spaces/times available for those needing a space to congregate.

Recycling

A.S. Recycling works to divert UCSB’s waste from the landfill and is a major partner in the campus’ Waste Management Plan. Student employees collect and sort recyclable material and electronic waste, and strive to educate the campus community about how to reduce its ecological footprint. A.S. Recycling works closely with the Department of Public Worms, which focuses on reducing food waste through composting.
